Here at Bella Body Medical Spa we understand that many of our patients suffer from unwanted hair on their face, neck and body. Thickness of hair can depend on hormone levels, specific medication and even genetics. Regardless of the reason, our patients are always looking for state-of-the-art techniques for permanent hair removal.
Laser hair removal is the most effective technique currently on the market for permanent hair reduction. Laser hair removal is best suited for dark hair. Typically, about 25 percent of hair follicles are destroyed during each treatment. Therefore, it takes about six treatments to see an 80 to 90% reduction in unwanted hair.
Treatment & Results
It is important to understand that laser hair removal does not destroy all follicles, as some are dormant during treatment. Those dormant follicles can become active in the future and could ultimately produce hair. We recommend that after six treatments, patients enter what is known as a maintenance plan to combat follicles that become active later in life.
At Bella Body, we use the Medley Multifunction Laser Platform for laser hair removal. You will see a decrease in hair after your first treatment. After each treatment, you will notice hair coming back lighter and finer. There is no recovery time necessary for laser hair removal. You can return to your normal daily activities immediately after treatment.
If you are planning on undergoing laser hair removal, we ask that you do not pluck or wax hair in the desired areas for at least four weeks prior to treatment. The laser works by targeting follicles that appear dark (because they have hair growing out of them) and if the hair has been waxed or plucked the laser will be unable to target those follicles. Once your treatment is complete, your medical aesthetician will also recommend that you avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for approximately six weeks.
